Association of Equipment Manufacturers plans product safety, liability seminars

Providing an industrywide forum for off-road equipment manufacturers to address safety issues is the aim of the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) annual product safety seminar, set for Jan 30 — Feb 1, 2005, at the Hilton Atlanta Airport in Atlanta GA.

“Safety: Your Best Product; Get Everyone Involved” is the theme of the 2005 AEM safety seminar, which has expanded its scope to include curriculum tracks for technical writing as well as standards and regulations.

A general session on multicultural training issues kicks off this seminar, and the event also includes a product safety fundamentals program for entry-level and relatively new safety professionals.

AEM also will host a one-day product liability program Feb 2, 2005 at the same location. Titled “How to be a Good Client,” this seminar is targeted to non-lawyers involved in the defense of company products. It is designed to provide participants with a better understanding of the litigation process and how to be an effective participant. The seminar will feature five learning segments, focusing on:

  • Litigation management policies and techniques (industry panel discussion).

  • “E-discovery” and handling electronic documents during litigation.

  • Being deposed in the “high-tech age.”

  • Proper handling of written discovery and document requests.

  • Responding to challenging cross-examination (interactive session).
