CONGRESS is considering passing legislation that would terminate rulemaking on wetlines, Tank Conference Engineering Committee Chairman Tom Hitchcock said at the Tank Engineering Committee update held during the TTMA convention.

The Committee was updated on several initiatives TTMA is taking with PHMSA including bench testing of PRDs, lean duplex and FRP materials of construction, and bumper setback provisions.

The following publications were presented to the TCExC for revision approval, voted on, and all passed on to the Board for final review.

•      RP 28 – Flange and Emergency Valve Dimensional Information

•      RP 59 – Tank Trailer Ladders and Walkways

•      RP 84 – Emergency Valve Shear Device Impact Test Procedure

•      TB 58 – Tank Venting.

John Conley of ConleyComm LLC reported that he has been working on a history of the tank truck industry and is currently in discussions to write a history of the trailer industry for TTMA. He encouraged members to share interesting documents/photos from their files to help him with this project. ♦
