Fontaine Unveils Composite Trailer

Fontaine Trailer introduced a composite trailer that weighs only 9,000 pounds yet features an 80,000-pound distributed frame capacity.

The Revolution Combo, unveiled at the Mid America Truck Show, features 23" steel main beams combined with an extruded aluminum floor for maximum strength and support at a lower overall weight.

The sleek, aerodynamic shape is designed to cut through the air with a low drag coefficient. Friction-stir welding, proven technology borrowed from the aerospace industry, adds to the strength of the floor while reducing weight to provide bigger payloads and more miles per gallon.

The patent-pending one-piece extruded aluminum siderail withstands impact damage better than conventional designs. An integrated load securement system makes loading and unloading faster, better and much easier.

Fontaine also is expanding its line of Velocity dropdeck trailers to include triaxle models. These new trailers feature steel I-beam construction with steel crossmembers to provide superior strength and durability.

Velocity boasts many standard features that are considered options on other Trailers, such as LED lights, full-length winch track with 16 sliding winches, bolt-on steel bumper that meets underride requirements for USA and Canada, rubber dock bumpers, 130 yield stress steel beam material, stake pockets on 24" centers, and I-beam crossmembers on 12" centers.
