UK Commercial Vehicle Registrations Up 27% in October

October Commercial vehicle registrations in the UK increased 27.2% over the previous month and 9.6% over the first 10 months of 2013.

October Commercial vehicle registrations in the UK increased 27.2% over the previous month and 9.6% over the first 10 months of 2013, according to the European Automobile Manufacturer’s Association (ACEA).

The figures indicate a large increase across the board, with vans up to 3.5 tonnes registering a 26.3% rise, while trucks both over 3.5 and 16 tonnes saw sales grow 31.9% and 36.2% year on year respectively.

The European bus and coach sector saw double-digit growth in October, with the UK posting a 20.9% increase on last year.

For the overall CV market, encouragingly, Germany, France and Spain joined the UK’s growth in October with Italy the only major market to decline.

Despite the monthly increases, both France and Germany’s registrations remained depressed for the first 10 months of 2013. Across the region, CV registrations have shrunk by 2.7% on last year with 1,389,244 new registrations so far in 2013.
