Navistar, Swift to Test ProStar with MPG Spec

Navistar, Inc. and Swift Transportation are starting a joint program to pilot-test a specification the truck OEM has designed for its International ProStar tractor to maximize  fuel efficiency.

Navistar, Inc. and Swift Transportation are starting a joint program to pilot-test a specification the truck OEM has designed for its International ProStar tractor to maximize  fuel efficiency.

Navistar said it expects the test results will “deliver industry leading fuel economy results.”

The spec pairs the ProStar with the Cummins ISX15 diesel engine and the Eaton Fuller Advantage 10-sp automated manual transmission.

“We feel the marriage of automated transmissions with complementary engine parameters will generate optimal fuel economy performance while also helping retain drivers,” said Bert Kinsel, Swift’s vice president of Heavy Equipment. “This, combined with truck aerodynamics should prove to be a winning combination.”

“Swift is North America’s largest full truckload carrier and we are looking forward to delivering their International ProStar units with the ISX15 and Eaton Cummins Smart Advantage automated manual transmission,” said Bill Kozek, Navistar’s  president, North American Truck and Parts.

“Our testing shows this truck configuration provides outstanding fuel economy performance and we are confident Swift Transportation will experience the same benefits we have observed,” added Kozek.
