Medium and Heavy Truck Sales Up 9% in November

Medium and heavy truck sales were up 9% in November over the same period a year ago and down 12% from the previous month.  

Medium and heavy truck sales were up 9% in November over the same period a year ago and down 12% from the previous month, according to figures compiled by Wards Communications.

Dealers sold 48,477 trucks with GVW ratings above 10,000 pounds during the month, up from November 2012 (44,328) and down from October 2013 (54,936).

Compared with November 2012, Class 8 trucks were up 1% (14,511, compared to 14,370). Class 7 sales were 3,529, just up from 3,524.

For the year, truck dealers have sold 543,180 trucks with GVW ratings above 10,000 pounds, up 6% from 5121,478 in 2012. Class 8 sales have been 165,089, a 7% decrease from the same period last year (176,585). Class 7 sales have been up 1% (43,252, compared to 42,956).

Total sales of all classes have been up 11%, from 6,792,214 to 7,522,378.

Every class has been up, except for Class 8. The biggest increase has been in Class 4 (20%).
