Medium and Heavy Truck Sales Up 15% in July

Medium and heavy truck sales were up 15% in July over the same period a year ago and up 7% from the previous month.

Medium and heavy truck sales were up 15% in July over the same period a year ago and up 7% from the previous month, according to figures compiled by Wards Communications.

Dealers sold 58,898 trucks with GVW ratings above 10,000 pounds during the month, up from July 2013 (51,279) and June 2014 (54,990).

Compared with July 2013, Class 8 trucks were up 23% (18,793, compared to 15,340). Class 7 sales were 6,320, up 49% from the 4,229.

For the year, truck dealers have sold 367,001 trucks with GVW ratings above 10,000 pounds, up 9% from 342,573 in 2013. Class 8 sales have been 118,583, a 17% increase from the same period last year (101,180). Class 7 sales have been up 17% (30,195, compared to 26,864).

Total sales of all classes have been up 9%, from 4,765,114 to 5,208,959.

Every class has been up, except for Class 3. The biggest increase has been in Class 4 (24%).
