The newest edition of the American Trucking Associations (ATA) TMC Recommended Practices Manual is now available for 2010-2011. Fleets and equipment manufacturers depend on it when it comes to the purchase, design, maintenance, and performance of equipment. Each industry best practice was developed and evaluated by experts with ATA's Technology and Maintenance Council (TMC). Recommended practices in maintenance and engineering include:

  • Tires and wheels
  • Engines
  • Electrical and instruments
  • Fleet maintenance management
  • Chassis and brake systems
  • Cab and controls
  • Trailers, bodies, and material handling
  • Cost-control methods
  • Energy conservation
  • On-board vehicle electronics

The manual is available as a searchable CD-ROM or two-volume hardcover set (more than 2,700 pages). This year, the Maintenance Recommended Practices and Engineering Recommended Practices hardcover editions also are provided separately as single volumes.
