Thiele Manufacturing was awarded a contract through Mack Trucks, Inc. to build approximately 200 dump truck bodies in the second and third quarters of 2007 for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

Thiele will install the bodies, plows, spreaders and hydraulics on Mack chassis at its Windber, Pa., facility and the completed vehicles will be delivered to depots throughout the state.

Thiele President Joe Romano couldn’t be happier to bring this work into his 220,000-square-foot manufacturing plant.

“I’ve always felt that the quality of our truck bodies matches up with anyone, and working with Mack Trucks, Inc. to put such a great volume of trucks on Pennsylvania roads in ’07 will only further establish Thiele as an industry leader. We’ve had strong sales growth over the past year, so we’re well-positioned to handle this contract.”

Thiele currently employs approximately 75-80 people, but that number is expected to grow significantly with the additional work.
