NTEA Government Relations Director Mike Kastner was one of two individuals selected to receive a 2006 Explorer Award from the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and The Center for Association Leadership.

Kastner has been with the NTEA since 1988 and works in the Association’s Washington, DC, office, where he provides legislative and regulatory lobbying to protect and advance the interests of the work truck and trailer industry.

“I’m here to prevent the bad and promote the good,” said Kastner. “I really believe in the positions the NTEA takes, and I enjoy interacting with legislators and rulemakers to educate them about our industry.”

Explorer Awards are presented to emerging leaders with less than seven years of association work experience; a chief executive officer (CEO) of an association or other non-profit organization; or one senior-level executive with more than seven years of experience who cannot hold the position of CEO.

The Canadian Tourism Commission is sponsoring the Explorer Awards that include registration fees, airfare and hotel accommodations for three nights to attend the Invitational Forum on Leadership and Management June 15–16, 2006, in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
