Seagrave Fire Apparatus, a division of FWD Corp, has been awarded an order for 54 heavy-duty custom fire trucks for the City of New York in the wake of the World Trade Center attacks. The order, valued at about $25 million, includes 17 rear-mount aerial trucks, five tractor-drawn aerial trucks, four high-pressure pumpers, three squads, 19 pumpers, and six Seagrave custom chassis that will be shipped to Aerialscope Inc in Richmond VA. Aerialscope, an affiliate of Seagrave, will use one of the chassis to rebuild a damaged Aerialscope tower ladder, and the balance will be used to manufacture five new replacement Aerialscope tower ladder trucks for the City of New York.

The order will replace a large number of FDNY Seagrave fire trucks destroyed during the collapse of the World Trade Center Sept 11, 2001. The New York City fleet typically has more than 200 Seagrave fire apparatus in front-line service. The new trucks were ordered through Seagrave Sales & Service of South Plainfield NJ, the company's exclusive representatives for New York City.
