Mitsubishi Fuso Consolidates North American Operations

Dec. 4, 2008
Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC) today announced it is consolidating North American operations at Mitsubishi Fuso Truck of America (MFTA) in Logan Township, N.J.

Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC) today announced it is consolidating North American operations at Mitsubishi Fuso Truck of America (MFTA) in Logan Township, N.J.

MFTA, a wholly-owned subsidiary of MFTBC, will now handle all brand-related operations, including vehicles sales, marketing, product applications, distribution, dealer relations, parts and service, and will be the dedicated wholesale organization for Mitsubishi Fuso in the U.S. and Canada.

Established in 1985, MFTA has historically been the base of all Mitsubishi Fuso operations in North America. Since January 2008, the brand's sales, marketing and distribution functions have been handled through the Sterling Trucks organization of Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA). Both DTNA and MFTBC are part of the Daimler Trucks Division of Daimler AG, so the set-up was designed to deliver maximum synergies and efficiencies in the North American commercial vehicle market.

In October, DTNA announced its future discontinuation of the Sterling brand in response to continuing depressed demand across the industry and structural changes in the company's core markets. With this development, Mitsubishi Fuso's sales, marketing, product application and distribution will transfer to MFTA.

"Mitsubishi Fuso is focused on further developing the Mitsubishi Fuso brand in North America," said Kai-Uwe Seidenfuss, MFTBC Vice President of Sales & Service International. "We will continue to offer a line of well-designed, fuel-efficient trucks and back them with strong support and services.”
