Medium and Heavy Truck Sales Up 3% in November

Medium and heavy truck sales were up 3% in November over the same period a year ago and down 7% from the previous month, according to figures compiled by Wards Communications.

Dealers sold 44,328 trucks with GVW ratings above 10,000 pounds during the month, up from November 2011 (43,096) and down from October 2012 (47,683).

Compared with November 2011, Class 8 trucks were down 16% (14,370, compared to 17,020). Class 7 sales were 3,524, up 10% from the 3,194 sold.

For the year, truck dealers have sold 511,478 trucks with GVW ratings above 10,000 pounds, up 15% from 445,757 in 2011. Class 8 sales have been 176,585, a 17% increase from the same period last year (150,419). Class 7 sales have been up 14% (42,956, compared to 37,589).

Total sales of all classes have been up 9%, from 6,222,546 to 6,792,214.
