Kenworth of Alabama recently relocated its Mobile, Ala., area dealership to a new, state-of-the-art facility that is twice as large as its former location and provides enhanced service, easier accessibility and a wider selection of new Kenworth trucks.

A member of the Kenworth dealer network of nearly 300 locations in the United States and Canada, Kenworth of Mobile's new location in Irvington, Ala, is on a 10-acre site which includes two buildings with a total of 45,000 square feet of space, a larger parking lot and easier freeway access.

"The additional space enables us to offer a larger selection of Kenworth's newest models, such as the Kenworth T170 Class 5 and aerodynamic Kenworth T660, plus the dealership's traditional heavy duty best sellers - the Kenworth W900 and Kenworth T800, which is the backbone of the logging and construction industry here in the Mobile area," said Bob Mitchell, Kenworth of Alabama and Mississippi dealer principal. "There's also plenty of room for drivers to park and maneuver their trucks, and the dealership is visible from the freeway with excellent access to I-10."

Kenworth of Mobile has 27 service bays, with six dedicated to preventive and express maintenance services, including Kenworth PremierCare ExpressLube.

"When we opened our Kenworth of Birmingham facility four years ago, we dedicated six bays to express services and it was phenomenally successful. We can get customers in for Kenworth PremierCare ExpressLube and AC service; inspect their trucks, regardless of make or model; repair any minor issues; and get them back out on the road quickly," Mitchell said. "That's why we've added a separate annex at our Mobile location with six bays dedicated to express services in addition to the 21 bays in the main shop."

The dealership has a state-of-the-art driver's lounge with wireless Internet access, washer and dryer facilities, work space, two sleeping rooms with comfortable beds, and vending machines. The parts department has 6,000 square feet of storage and 1,200 square feet of display area, allowing the dealership to offer more parts on hand for its customers.

"This area west of Mobile is a prime location for sales growth with its proximity to Mississippi and the shipyards and port on Mobile Bay," said Mitchell. "With EADS (European Aeronautic Defense and Space Company) planning to build an airplane assembly plant a few miles to the east and ThyssenKrupp building a new ($3.7 billion) steel plant north of Mobile, Kenworth of Mobile is at the crossroads of a metropolitan area expected to have the nation's fastest growing economy in its category by 2012."

Kenworth of Mobile is located at 8620 I-10 Service Road off the recently completed I-10/ McDonald Road/Mobile County Route 39 interchange in Irvington, Ala. The dealership is open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays. The phone number is 251-957-4000 or toll-free 1-800-478-3901. Kenworth of Mobile will hold a grand opening celebration and open house later this spring.
