Kenworth Truck Co. is making an outside air temperature gauge standard on heavy-duty trucks ordered with aerodynamic mirrors.

The temperature reading appears in Celsius or Fahrenheit in the upper left-hand portion of the driver side mirror. A photo sensor automatically adjusts the display based on outside brightness. An optional dash-mounted gauge display is also available.

“The outside air temperature is an important piece of information for drivers, especially when temperatures dip to near freezing and black ice can develop,” said Steve Gilligan, Kenworth general marketing manager. “Since the driver frequently checks the mirror while driving, it made sense to merge the two.”
