The Kögel Cargo, Mega and Mega trailers are available in two optional variants for tire transport, which have obtained the secure-loading certificate awarded by TÜV Nord (the Northern German standards testing body).

This certifies that these products can be used to transport banded, interlaced and layered cargoes of tires to a maximum payload of 18 tonnes. This means that extreme bulging of tarpaulins caused by tire loads pressing against them are now a thing of the past – having the added benefit of reducing delays due to police stops.

Kögel has added additional equipment to the VarioFix trailer conforming to DIN EN 12642 Code XL with 13 pairs of lashing points on its outer frame and a pallet stop. It has created two variants.

Variant 1 includes three in-depot aluminum support laths, as well as four steel C rails from below per rung section, an aluminum support lath above and a cross brace with lashing strap conforming to DIN EN 12195-2.

Variant 2 is also fitted out with three in-depot aluminum support laths. In this case, there are five aluminum support laths per rung section and a vertical steel C rail to be hung in the middle of the rung section. For this variant a cross brace with a lashing strap conforming to DIN EN 12195-2 is needed for each rung section. For load securing against the travel direction, both versions include a locking beam in the upper area and a cross tensioning device. Thanks to the 150-millimetre hoop boards and steel C rails with a maximum spacing of 350 millimetres, Kögel's solutions now match the guidelines set out by Michelin for the transport of tires. The lashing straps can be fastened either to the lashing hook lugs or to the C rails.
