Hendrickson International, a manufacturer of suspension systems based in Woodridge, IL, is introducing a rear air suspension specifically designed for buses, motor homes, and ambulances.Called Comfort Air, the suspension is designed for fleets that transport people, not cargo, said Hendrickson, offering a superior ride and handling for both passenger and driver comfort, as well as vehicle protection. Hendrickson said Comfort Air’s main support member exhibits lower roll stiffness to give a more compliant ride and enhanced protection from road shocks for passengers, drivers, chassis and equipment. To further soften the ride, a longer main support member allows the air springs to carry more of the vertical load. A wider frame hanger bracket spreads out road forces over a greater area to help reduce frame stress and increase vehicle life, the company added.
