ESAB Welding & Cutting Products and the Florence-Darlington Technical College (FDTC) have partnered to form the ESAB School of Welding and Cutting Technology. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held March 9 to open the school.

Located at the Advanced Welding and Cutting Center at FDTC in Florence SC, the school accepts students nationwide. The joint venture is designed to help stabilize the shortage of skilled welders.

The school has 58 equipped hands-on welding workstations. More than $1 million has been invested to create the facility inside FDTC's Advanced Welding and Cutting Center. The school offers ESAB-specific and traditional FDTC courses in day-class, night-class, online, and distance-learning formats. Courses in arc, Tig, and Mig welding; flux-cored wires; and gas apparatus are available. American Welding Society certification is provided right at the center. Career assistance is offered through a job placement service.
