Deadline nears for NHTSA's Early Warning Reporting registration

Companies that manufacture more than 500 trailers per year must register with NHTSA by November 1. They are required to apply for a manufacturer identification number and password by the deadline. The National Association of Trailer Manufacturers still has no information on NHTSA's response to NATM's petition submitted in August 2002, and Congress still has not completed action on NATM's request for a one-year moratorium on EWR enforcement.The first EWR report, covering the third quarter of 2003, is due December 1.
