Con-Way Truckload (CTL), an operating company of Con-Way Transportation Services Inc. set to begin operating in first quarter 2005, will use a fleet of 46 Volvo VN670s. In an effort to recruit drivers, CTP says it opted for the premium trimmings on these rigs.

"The reputation of the Volvo VN with drivers will help us attract the professionals we need despite the tremendous current competition for drivers," said Con-Way COO & executive vp Douglas Stotlar.

The rigs will be equipped with 465-hp Volvo VED12 engines, premium interior trim and audio system, and a refrigerator, said Volvo Trucks North America. The trucks will be built for team drivers, and will have dual bunks, as well as pre-wiring for TV and microwave installation.

"This is the first order for the initial operations, and we'll expand as business volumes dictate," CTL spokesman Joe DeLuca said.
