The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has responded to petitions for reconsideration regarding this past summer’s rule calling for reduced stopping distances for air-braked tractors.
In a final rule appearing in the November 13 Federal Register, the agency announced a partial response to petitions for reconsideration. The final rule responds to those petitions by correcting errors in a table published in the final rule, removing a testing specification, and adjusting the compliance date for a small number of vehicles the agency had not fully accounted for in the final rule.
